Fat injections is a method of body contouring used by Mr Gary Kode that involves the reshaping of undesirable parts, by removing fat from where it is excessive and transplanting it to other areas.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is added to the fat cells before they are injected. As a concentrated source of autologous platelets, PRP is useful as platelets contain multiple growth factors that help stimulate tissue growth. In particular, PRP stimulates the growth of collagen which is the main component of connective tissue such as tendons and cartilage and skin.

The method of preparing PRP involves drawing whole blood from the patient and then spinning the blood in a special centrifuge that layers out the platelets. This individualized procedure is used to increase the survival of the transplanted fat cells. This is autologous because it is derived from the same individual in whom it is used thereby minimising side effects.

Many people may benefit from PRP fat injections; however those with platelet dysfunction, low platelet count, infection or anemia are unlikely to be suitable candidates for this procedure.

The PRP fat injections result in an instant aesthetic improvement. This may be used for example around the cheekbones with the impact similar to how it will look if the patient had undergone a Facelift. It is a technique for wrinkle reduction and PRP Enriched Autologous Fat Transfer is also used for bicep and calf augmentation, and hand rejuvenation.
After this procedure the patient must rest the affected area to prevent leakage of the PRP and may experience some discomfort for 1-2 days.

Fact Injections may be used in conjunction with Facelift, Brow Lift, Blepharoplasty, Dermal Injections and other Aesthetic Procedures. Contact our practice in Launceston to book a Plastic Surgery procedure.
